Who We Are

Bill Hoey

Senior Designer

Bill is passionate about meaningful design and sustainability. He defines the former term as a thoughtful approach to projects that have an impact on the public realm and on the people who inhabit a space. On the sustainability front, he strives to incorporate energy-efficient features into his designs. He has ample opportunity to pursue both passions in his role at SGA, where he has multifaceted responsibilities, ranging from schematic and conceptual design to construction administration.

Previously Bill served as a designer at HMFH Architects in Cambridge for three years. There he specialized in educational projects. Earlier he spent four years at CBT Architects, where he focused on multifamily residential high-rises along with core and shell office work. In each position he gained significant experience in Revit, which he now applies to his life sciences projects at SGA.

Bill earned a Bachelor of Science in architecture and a Master of Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology. His graduate thesis centered on “vertical architecture” as a means to reduce density.

Outside of the office, Bill enjoys driving, racing, and working on cars. He also hikes regularly in the mountains throughout New England and plays in a soccer league. When he doesn’t have a scheduled game, you can find him on the fields of MIT at a pick-up match – in the position of forward or striker.
