As a designer and researcher educated in South Korea and the U.S., Hyunsik has cultivated a multidisciplinary approach to architecture, integrating strategies of urban design, landscape, and sustainability with a critical understanding of the forces that shape contemporary cities. His cross-scale projects and research have been featured in many publications and exhibitions.
Before joining SGA, Hyunsik served as an architectural and urban designer at CBT Architects and at Sasaki Associates. In these capacities, he participated in a wide range of architecture and urban design projects in multiple cultural contexts, including master-planned communities and campuses, large-scale mixed-use architectural developments, offices, and pavilions.
Hyunsik earned a Master of Architecture in urban design from Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a five-year Bachelor of Architecture degree from Seoul National University in South Korea, where he graduated as valedictorian for the Class of 2013. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling within the U.S. and overseas, which allows him to experience different cultures and lifestyles.
