320 W 31st Street
is a proposed 156,000 SF hybrid laboratory and office development located adjacent to The Moynihan Train Hall, Manhattan West and Hudson Yards.
The proposed 11-story facility features an undulating building mass inspired by the intersecting tracks in the rail yards below and the Beaux-Arts style championed by McKim, Mead & White in the early 1900s. SGA’s concept is both a modern and classic addition to an existing four-story structure present on the site.
Cantilevered terraces throughout the new addition present woven green spaces that provide users with indoor/outdoor connections.
Sustainable strategies include a Passive House quality envelope, cascading air, office exhaust air for lab make-up air, DOAS system chilled beams, heat recovery chillers, chamfered beams at the perimeter and daylight harvesting.
