SGA converted a former Verizon warehouse into
LINX,
a 185,000 square foot LEED Gold certified campus for science and technology companies.
The SGA redesign split the boxy building in two, replacing the concrete walls with glass, adding depth to the façade with a mix of materials, and created a light-filled atrium lobby with café and lounge.
Located in the emerging downtown district of Watertown, the design establishes a bold and highly innovative work environment.
The façade, coined “fun industrial,” features hanging screens, custom still frames in mesh, vertical fins, corrugated metal, and a color-changing material called Alucobond Spectra.
Exterior courtyards and a dramatic multi-story atrium provide a rich setting for collaboration. The bold and innovative design offers highly flexible and efficient research space in concert with a unique array of on-site amenities including a bike room, manicured patios, courtyards, and Bocce courts.
