SGA, the Boston and New York City-based national award-winning architecture, interior design, planning, branded environments and virtual design and construction practice, today announced the promotion of Giuseppe Ardito, ASCE to the position of Sustainability/High-Performance Building Leader. Previously, he served as VDC Engineer/Building Energy Analyst.
“Giuseppe earned his promotion through hard work and his commitment to sustainability. He is a talented Architectural Engineer focused on Building Energy Modeling, construction management, and building design and performance, and we believe he will leverage that knowledge and experience in his new position” said Michael Schroeder, CCM, SGA’s Partner and Director of Virtual Design + Construction. “At SGA, we believe it is essential to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption during the operational life of a building.”
As Sustainability/High-Performance Leader, Mr. Ardito’s principal role is to lead the Building Science team within SGA to meet clients’ and projects’ needs in terms of sustainability and climate resilience risks.
“Buildings are responsible for about 40% of all U.S. energy consumption and a similar proportion of greenhouse gas emissions, making it quite difficult to achieve carbon reduction targets without implementing innovative solutions to contain energy usage intensities (EUIs),” said Mr. Ardito. “I am looking forward to my expanded role at SGA, and to overseeing and analyzing the adoption of design solutions that include but are not limited to building mass and orientation, envelope assemblies insulation, optimal window to wall ratios, glazing thermal performance natural lighting, the introduction of innovative and efficient HVAC and water heating systems, and analysis of power and renewable energy technologies.”
The SGA Building Science mission is to design state-of-the-art buildings based on identifying strategic design approaches that will drive sustained decarbonization and energy efficiency of tenant spaces while advancing climate protection goals.
Mr. Ardito joined SGA in 2019 because the firm provided ample opportunities for him to hone his skills and pioneer new technologies. Previously, he served for several years as a teaching assistant at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, where he received a Master of Science in civil engineering. A licensed professional engineer in Italy, Mr. Ardito also holds a Master of Science in architectural engineering and a PhD in management engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Bari.
